Just Another Free Stock Photo Resource List

Whether it’s for your own website or a client project, stock photos can be a great help to bring any design to life. Unless you own a camera and a pristine MacBook Pro along with a DotGrid sketchbook, you will probably find yourself trying to find something suitable on the internet.

Trying to find a high-res professional photo that won’t cost an arm and a leg can be quite difficult. We have put together a list below of some good websites we have been told about that offer some great high-resolution images with a range of different categories. Some resources like Im Free allow you to search specifically for a subject whereas some like LifeOfPix accept submissions.

Great stock photo website made by Daniel Nanescu who gives his photos away for free. The overall aim of the website is to help designers out and to get his photography around. Needless to say Split Shire has grown into a giant library full of some truly amazing photos.

One of the hidden gems of Flickr is its advanced search which allows you to search within Creative Commons-licensed content. You can narrow the search to include photos that you can modify, adapt, or build upon as well as photos to use commercially, all for free.

Picography, is another great resource similar to Unsplash. Picography make things easier on your bandwidth as well by serving lower resolution photos on their website, but allow you to download the full sized photo by clicking on each image.
